Summary

The growing challenges of cancer and antimicrobial resistance necessitate the development of new therapeutic agents. This thesis focuses on the design, synthesis, characterization, and biological evaluation of novel ethacrynic acid and fluoroquinolone derivatives with potential anticancer and antibacterial properties.

A series of structurally diverse compounds were synthesized and characterized using FTIR, NMR (1H and 13C), and HRMS techniques to confirm their structures and purity. Their biological activities were assessed through in vitro anticancer and antibacterial studies, including cytotoxicity assays, disk diffusion tests, and MIC/MBC determinations.

Several synthesized derivatives exhibited promising anticancer and antibacterial activities, highlighting the potential of both ethacrynic acid and fluoroquinolone scaffolds as valuable platforms for drug development.

To further understand their biological behavior, molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulations, ADMET prediction, and drug-likeness profiling were performed. These computational studies provided insights into ligand–target interactions, binding stability, and pharmacokinetic properties, supporting the experimental findings.

Overall, this work demonstrates that strategic structural modification of ethacrynic acid and fluoroquinolone frameworks can lead to promising bioactive compounds and provides a foundation for the future development of novel therapeutic agents.
