Euromed University of Fes had the honor of hosting Mr. Abdelmalek Alaoui for a conference dedicated to his best-selling work, "Le Temps du Maroc : Résilience et émergence du Royaume chérifien", published in 2021. This intellectual gathering offered a strategic and geopolitical reinterpretation of the years marked by the Covid-19 pandemic, while opening perspectives on the major upheavals the world is currently experiencing, analyzed through a Moroccan prism.
An economist and renowned author, an expert in strategy and influence communication, Mr. Abdelmalek Alaoui is a graduate of Sciences Po Paris and HEC. He is also the President of the Moroccan Institute of Strategic Intelligence (IMIS) and the founder of the Guepard Group consultancy. Named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in Davos in 2015, he is the author of several reference works, including the one presented during this conference.
In "Le Temps du Maroc", Mr. Alaoui delivers a lucid and incisive analysis of the global health crisis, which he does not consider a mere dramatic interlude, but as a pivotal moment in contemporary history. He highlights the Kingdom's exemplary and anticipatory response to the pandemic, driven by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, emphasizing the boldness of the political, health, and economic choices made. The book also explores Morocco's ongoing reform trajectory, its strategic repositioning on the international chessboard, and the progressive consolidation of its sovereignty, all within a vision articulated around resilience, innovation, and leadership.
The exchange, of great intellectual richness, allowed for a revisit of the profound transformations underway in Morocco, through a reflection articulated around the Kingdom's continental ambition, its reformist dynamism, its digital transition, and its quest for economic sovereignty. These structuring themes were put into perspective with current global challenges, revealing a country in full transformation, driven by a clear vision of its future. Mr. Alaoui insisted on the central role played by Moroccan youth, not only as beneficiaries of these changes but especially as key actors in their realization.
The meeting concluded with a friendly book signing session, during which the students were able to interact directly with Mr. Alaoui. This privileged moment allowed the initiated reflection to be extended, while creating a personal connection with the author, in a spirit of sharing and intellectual dialogue.
