Salim BOUNOU is a Full Professor and Dean of the Euromed Faculty of Pharmacy at the Euro-Mediterranean University of Fes (UEMF). He previously served as Vice-President in charge of Research, Innovation, and Cooperation, where he played a central role in strengthening the university’s research ecosystem and international collaborations.

Dr. Bounou holds a Master’s degree in Microbiology and a Ph.D. in Microbiology-Immunology from Laval University, Canada (2003). He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Medical Center of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam before pursuing a career that bridged academia, research management, and technology transfer. In Canada, he worked as a Faculty member and researcher, then as Technology Transfer Manager at Sherbrooke and Laval Universities, and later as valorization Director at TransferTech (formerly Gestion SOcPRA Inc.), Sherbrooke University’s technology transfer and commercialization office.

With extensive teaching experience, he has delivered courses in virology, immunology and innovation management. His academic activities are closely linked to his expertise in innovation, covering project evaluation, patent strategies, and technology transfer in engineering, medical sciences, and biotechnology.

In Morocco, Dr. Bounou joined the Moroccan Foundation for Advanced Science, Innovation and Research (MAScIR), where he served on the Board of Directors and as Director of MASCIR Valor, overseeing intellectual property valorization and international partnerships.

He contributes to national and international expert bodies, including the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) – Commission on R&D and University Relations, and the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association (EMEA), where he serves as a member of the Expert Panel. He is also an evaluator for the Erasmus+ France agency within the 2014–2027 program.

Throughout his career, Dr. Bounou has built a strong reputation as a scientist, academic leader, and innovation strategist, committed to advancing higher education, research excellence, and Euro-Mediterranean cooperation.
